We have hundreds of large, kiln-dried slabs, mostly walnut with some white oak. Our slabs range in size from 13" to over 60" in width and lengths to 16 feet. Most of our slabs have been kiln-dried to 8% moisture content. We also have cookies and ovals of various sizes, for smaller projects.
We cut most of our slabs to 3" thickness, sometimes even thicker to ensure sufficient material for flattening. Smaller slabs are cut to 2" -2 1/2" thick. Our custom-built bandsaw "Dorothy" is operational, we have a cutting capacity of 60" wide by 20' long.
We measure the moisture content in our slabs during kiln-drying by inserting pins to the midpoint of the slab to get an accurate measurement with our Delmhorst meter.
With a capacity of 60" width to 20' length, our custom slab flattening mill (shown to the right) can quickly and easily flatten one or both sides of your slab to save you time finishing.
We usually have 1000 to 5000 bf of 4/4 kiln-dried lumber in the following species: Ash, Beech, Hickory, Maple, Red Oak, White Oak (plain and quarter-sawn), and walnut. We maintain a good inventory of 4/4 lumber skip planed to approximately 1" thick and straight-edged on one side or we can finish plane to meet your needs. Quality of the lumber will vary and is priced accordingly. From time to time we have other hardwoods, such as sycamore, cedar, cherry, soft maple, and other species depending upon availability.
We can also custom mill to your desired specifications, including rough cut, custom planed, kiln-dried, or green.
While we have plenty of our own logs to cut, we occasionally offer custom cutting services for larger logs needing our unique capacity. Contact us for details.
Our inventory is continually changing - as new logs are added to our piles.
With low overhead we try to keep our prices below most local retailers.
